Hi Keith, I have now updated his name on Lives of the First World War, by 'improving' the name that we had using the sources that you have connected. You can also report this error to The National Archives, who provided us with the transcription, but clicking this link and filling in the form under 'Have you found an error with this catalogue description?': http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D3742640

    Thanks and Best Wishes,
    Charlotte

Hi Albertina, thanks for your question. Have you checked with the church to see if they have a burial register? This may include further details about Ernest. I'll look into why you haven't been able to find the SWB record - I have now connected it to his Life Story page. Thanks and Best Wishes, Charlotte

Hi, thanks for your question. It may be worth widening out your search to include 'William Whitehead' as well as 'William H Whitehead' - individuals did not always enlist using their middle name. There is a chance that your great uncle's service record may have survived, which would provide details of service - it often contains information about address, family, etc. which would help to narrow it down to the correct person: https://search.livesofthefirstworldwar.org/search/world-records/british-army-service-records?firstname=william&firstname_variants=true&lastname=whitehead&keywords=royal army medical corps

It may also be worth getting in touch with the Museum of Military Medicine in case they have any further details: https://museumofmilitarymedicine.org.uk/collections/research-enquires/ Good luck with your research! Best Wishes, Charlotte

We are currently investigating the way in which Communities will function when the data is transferred to IWM. We will advise all members in due course. Thanks and Best Wishes, Charlotte

Yes, it will be available to view online. Thank you for your questions.

    Hello,

Thank you for your question. All the data that has been gathered since Lives began will be transferred to IWM at the end of the centenary, and will be free to browse as part of our collections.

    Best Wishes,
    Charlotte

    Hello,

Having looked into this, the evidence suggests that these Life Story pages relate to two men, rather than one. The service records do not indicate that the same person served with both regiments, and the supplementary information regarding their dates of birth and death are different:

    1. Company Serjeant Major Charles Guiver Royal West Surrey Regiment, Service #5057, born 1881, died 1971. The Life Story for Warrant Officer Class 2 Charles Guiver Service #L/5057 has already been merged with this one.

    2. Temporary Regimental Sergeant Major Charles GUIVER Royal Garrison Artillery, Service #10561, born 1877, died 1946. The Life Story for Warrant Officer Class 2 Charles Guiver Service #10561 has already been merged with this one.

I hope that this makes sense.

Thank you again for your enquiry,
    Charlotte

    Hello,

If you click on the Evidence tab on a Life Story page and click Erase Evidence, it should delete the image for you. If the image has been added by another user, you cannot delete or change it, but click on the contributor's name to send a message to them.

Should you require further assistance, please email support@livesofthefirstworldwar.org

    Best Wishes,

Hello, thank you for your feedback. Communities require a subscription because this is an additional element of the site, which allows you create a personalised area of Lives of the First World War. By paying £6 per month or £50 per year you can set up and manage as many Communities as you wish - if you compare this to the cost of setting up your own website this is very good value. Communities continue to be visible to everyone even after a subscription has lapsed, and form a key part of our permanent digital memorial. Thanks and Best Wishes, Charlotte
