I agree. Same issue arises in "Place of death" - France? or Flanders/Belgium? - not always sure despite knowing a place of burial - may be some distance apart from place of death. However having something, even slightly approximate, would be nice for the timeline rather than leaving blank or forcing a guess (Someone else with other evidence/knowledge could later improve. However I think development team have bigger functionality issues to resolve for users - I am frustrated by the inability to print/save a list of a given surname, or my remembered lives, or the whole set of facts for a given Life. Keep up the good work :-)

It may have arrived for you. Late Feb 2016 - I've noted a banner with the option/warning to save facts at top of screen when I have tried to close before saving. Keep up the good work

I agree that 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 inches are often used but I just enter the whole units thinking that easier than forcing a more major improvement if the facility ever arrives (and I have never personally worried about fractional units of my height! ;-). === I think development have other functionality issues to resolve at present. - e.g. how about you being able to print off/save to you computer a list of a given surname or print off/save to your own computer the Lives that you are remembering. Or ability for you to print off/save the full set of facts saved against any given Life of interest. Keep up the good work :-)

Possibly a good idea (but I think the development team have bigger functionality issues to resolve - but anyway always remember year of birth may be a year out due to the date - age = Year DOB crude method of calculation that CWGC use - believing that manually entering something close is better than nothing I just follow that method, recognising the limitations (and I suggest always use +/- 1 year when searching - +/- 2 years seems too crude a default position for me - and very irritating when specifying a census year (which are known pretty accurately!!) Keep up the good work.

I agree. So long as you are confident in the quality of your new info I just go ahead and enter without clumsy new "duplicated evidence" - similar to Richard from FMP

Had the same issue recently - though couldn't put my finger on the cause. V frustrating as had to repeat a number of entries in order to get them to be accepted. One for your development team I think

Ann, that's the beauty of you being to be able to see alternative SWB rolls - and interesting/puzzling as my printed copy of SWB Roll from LOTFWW (dated from a couple of days ago) reads == SWB 202686 against John Gladstone Bagshaw #39685 ~ 21 Oct 1915 to 07 Sep 1916 == and SWB 202685 against John Gladstone Bagshaw #39339 ~ 23 Aug 1915 to 22 Nov 1916 - looks like there are two SWB entries for JGB, but you have now attached to Alfred Blake based on SWB and # - nicely done

Thanks - Think we'll take the SWB transcription to be at odds with Medal and Service records and go with those. 26133 it will be for now. Thanks

His medal card transcription on LOTFWW says Jonathan Hy Bagshaw === are you looking elsewhere to see John Henry Bagshaw on a medal roll?

    R Bagshaw commented  ·

So I guess it's John, not Jonathan. === I have noted a lot of Lives have Jonathan used when other record(s) indicate John - perhaps there is a habit forming in transcription dept - perhaps somebody thinks John is a diminution of Jonathan and incorrectly uses the longer version as it seems more "proper"???

Thanks Ann - #61198 it shall remain on Lives. So appears SWB Roll # is just incorrectly transcribed as all other details match

George Bagshaw (as you say Joe could easily have become Geo/George) - so he is now JOE BAGSHAW == Have also found two censuses 1901 & 1911 for a Joe Bagshaw born at Warsill [Warsell] and living at Pateley the places cited in SDinGW (age would match with that of a typical combatant at death in 1916 - 21 years) - I am fairly confident this is the same chap - Seems a good fit. Or am I tilting at windmills? Have you any thoughts??? Can't find a Service Record though.

FMP = Joe it will be. Thanks once again - you work long hours!
