  1. Lifestory/3204803 Private George Stanley Nash. King's Royal Rifle Corps.Service# 5/4997

I have previously raised this with Contact Support. I am surprised that there is no CWGC Casualty records for Private George Stanley Nash who was killed in action on 10 March 1915, near Givenchy in France and whose name is on the Le Touret Memorial to the Missing, France (Nash G.S) Is this something that can be actioned at this late stage? Thanks.

  2. Please merge Thomas Simpson Thew / Thomas S Thew

Please keep https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/6331512 and merge https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/4396840 into it.

I received the following from the Durham County Record office, which confirms that #83483 and #J/50194 are the same man.

"I can confirm that the index record show’s the soldiers’ name as Thomas SIMPSON Thew.

We have checked the DLI medals database on their webpage (which is currently experiecing technical issues so you may not be able to access it at present) and there is the following information on the T S Thew Medals:

    British War Medal (1914-20)
    Accession Number:
    4473/1
    Location:
    Palace Green
    Monarch:

  3. Possible merge?

Albert Lade Simpkins https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/5706380 and Albert Lade Simpkins https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/6796490 are surely the same person although I have no evidence. Possible merge of records?

  5. Duplicate?

Any possibility of checking whether despite a different service number https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2291967 is a duplicate of https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2291966 especially with same Corps and name?

  6. Richard Francis Lobley (Service No: 235322)

Richard died in 1917, and is buried at Tyne Cot. His Medal Index Card and Medal Roll confirm that he served with the 8th York and Lancaster (235322) and the Northumberland Fusiliers (6283). His grandson has inherited Richard's Memorial Plaque and his campaign medals. The campaign medals have a spelling error on the rim inscription, which has always be recognised. (Labley instead of Lobley), however the regiment inscribed on the rim is the Middx Regiment, Service Number: 14455, but there's no record of him serving with this Regiment. Do you think there was a mix up in the production of…

  7. James Ernest Johnson

I am unable to find a record for Trimmer (James) Ernest Johnson; if he doesn't already exist, please can you create one for him? Thank you.

  8. Francis William Wicks

I am trying to trace this man under the number 20306 or 13378 to add him to the All Saints Wellington Shropshire Lychgate Community. His biography on Shropshire Archives is at https://www.shropshirearchives.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/wellington-remembers_Wicks-Francis-William.pdf

  9. William W Robertson

Combine data for William W Robertson 1635 and 352827, they are the same person.

  11. https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2021104#timeline Team please amend the birth on timeline to accept the birth certificate.

I know you are very busy but I have tried several times to reload 50877 Charles Martin Hurst's birth certificate as proof of birth on his timeline. The details add to the Facts section and to his page heading but the birth timeline does not accept it as proof. https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2021104#timeline

  12. 'Missing' CWGC casualties - How are their missing LS to be identified & added in the future - for the future???

Despite the valiant efforts by many to identify & create new LS for the 'missing' there are still many casualties buried / commemorated in the UK by the CWGC who do not have a LS because they did not have the necessary 'seed' source for original LS creation - most typically for Army Home Service alone/No MIC situations, but there are others. How are those 'missing' casualties to be identified & commemorated by LOTFWW in the future? What plans/mechanism to identify & add their LS? If not achieved then a truly massive short-coming of LOTFWW. Please assure all relatives &…

  13. TRUE NAMES and their ALIAS(ES) - How will they be searched/found in future?

In such cases where there are not two LS how will those outstanding TRUE NAMES who do not have LS, but whose ALIAS does have a LS, be identifiable in the future? [Typically the case for many identifiable CWGC casualties who died (with both true & alias noted) but without a LS from a Medal Index Card in the True Name - many outstanding omissions currently missed by LOTFWW] ???

  14. No new subscriptions allowed

It's disappointing that no new subscriptions are allowed already despite a few weeks to run until the cut off date. This prevents members from creating new communities and doing valuable research via the premium records.

  16. Probable duplicates

I think that there is a very good chance that there are duplicate records for Douglas Roderic Giffard Oliver:

  17. Re https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/7288968#evidence

Please delete the last image, as it is a replica of the first image. Added when trying to link the first image to the birth details. Have been unsuccessful in linking the image to the birth event - could you do so? Thank you.

  20. Is it not possible to refine your search results? When I enter the name of my uncle the results bring up names other than the one I entered

Is it not possible to refine the search engine to bring up just the name entered. I enter my uncle's name, and names that do not contain either his first or last name come up in the results.
