Feedback and discussion

This Forum is now closed to new posts. Thank you for taking part in the discussion.

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Can someone remove racist desecration

https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/7404767 Jason Bent (probably not his real name) has added the word 'goon' in front of the name of Henry Yin, an Australia Chinese ANZAC, a photograph of a dog that says 'Suck me' and for some lunatic reason a photograph of Snoop Dogg. I'm shaking with rage!

  2. Severe technical hitch

Help needed please! Percival George Hobbs https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/6641960
When adding his final Unit & Rank RFC/RAF, Private 1st Class from 1st April 1918 to 7th January 1920 system froze, suffered 'long running script' issue... then added the entry about 15 times of its own accord... I've removed as much as I can but cannot remove the Unit: Air Force RAF/RFC lines. I can't even do it the drastic way by removing the evidence, because it is from the seed record. The headings and timeline are now showing correctly but please could all the spare 'Unit: Air Force RAF/RFC lines' be removed?…

  3. Adding a story etc

I have just tried to simplify the way I add information by writing a story rather than adding a biography as a photo then highlighting the relevant facts. I produced a 1041 word story for my subject for today & attempted to add it to the box which said 'write as much as you like'. Unfortunately I had to remove it as the uploaded story was incomplete as I had run out of characters, so I resorted to my usual way of doing things. I am currently 'Remembering' 561 lives & I am sure there will be more. I have…

  4. Service number unclear and mistranscribed from MIC

    Stanley Andrew Harvey https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/1588453

has been given the number #S4/122962 in seeding, but the number is much clearer in his Service Record, as S4/122565. I am as sure as I can be the Service Record is the same man - he made two entries in an autograph book which made clear he was in hospital, having been wounded at Gallipoli, and that he was with the ASC. This matches his Service Record.

  6. Missing feedback posts

I can't view recent feedback and discussions. The latest I can see is 27 November, and those I have read and contributed to since then have disappeared.

Can anyone solve the mystery for me?

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  8. Is it possible to edit what I have just uploaded?

I have uploaded some images and now notice a couple of small typos in my descriptions. Is it possible to correct these? (I can only see instructions on how to delete them and start again).

  10. Merging life stories - Archibald Douglas

I think that these two profiles are most likely the same person:

    https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/1679310
    and
    https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/1679309

but I can't see a service number for the second one.

Is someone able to verify this by looking at other sources, please?

  12. Misspelled name

    https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/1067970

His name is actually spelled Cushnie, according to the 2 gravestone images on his page, as well as Commonwealth War Graves Commission: https://www.cwgc.org/find/find-war-dead/results?serviceNumber=104395&war=1
