How soon before we can have an index of communities? If I wanted, say, to create a community for people from one specific area, how would I know that others hadn't already got one built?
Hi and thanks for your feedback.
You’ll now be able to search communities from the main search bar at the top of the page.
For example to search for communities related to your area.
This is very important not just for managers of communities but for others searching for the appropriate community to which to add their servicemen.

Type an asterisk * in the search box to get a list of all communities

This says it is 'Completed' but where's the index?
I have checked out the search facility but sorry dont find it satisfactory
Why isnt there a browse facility or even just a list of communities?
One still needs to know the name before looking
Thanks Simon. That helps a great deal.

Is there any chance that the results can be sorted in alphabetical order please?
I have created a community but I dont see the point of it. As far as I can make out no one else can see it!!!
Neither can I see anyone elses!!!
so what is the point???
I thought that one would be able to search through communities to see if others had the same interests or so that other people could add soldiers to my community.
Why pay for something that has no value?
Also I can view record s on Ancestry as I am a subscriber
Sadly I am disappointed with this site

The sooner the better please Project Team for... a list of communities, the ability to see if a nominal record is attached to other communities and to see what users are remembering a nominal

It would also be really helpful if an individual life story page could show that the individual is already part of a community/communities. Currently viewers can see that they are remembered and add them to a new community but not see any notification or links to communities they are already listed in. With an increase in the number of communities there needs to be a clear way of displaying and searching for them. As I understand it, the whole point of creating communities is to allow a casual viewer to see the men from the same town/employer/battalion etc alongside each other.
This is definitely something we want too! We wanted to give you all a chance to explore communities and find out how they work before providing an easily-browsable list - but if you're very keen to explore right now, it's fairly simple to explore other communities by changing the URL.
Watch this space and we'll update you when we have more news on this feature.

I agree that this is absolutely essential
