Allow unlimited text length for Life Stories
I have been writing an account of the life and experiences of my ancestor. This is in full 190 pages long, and my abridged version is 19 pages long. When I submitted this as a life story I was told that only a maximum of 2000 characters are allowed. Will there be any opportunity on this site to record such extended accounts that would enrich readers' understanding and pay the most fitting tribute to our ancestors? Furthermore, will there be the opportunity to incorporate both text and images in combination in (say) a PDF file version?
Thanks for your feedback.
The character limit has now been extended to 5,000.
We are looking at bringing in options for document upload.
I was pretty annoyed after writing an account of my grandfathers war only to find that when I finished a pop up appeared telling me it was too long. It would not have been so bad if the limit was in words and I could have made use of the word counter in Microsoft word but how can you count characters. If the purpose of this site is to make a lasting record of the war a lot of information is going to fall by the wayside as a result of this. Incidentally this section does not appear to have a character limit on it.

I couldn't agree more! I have researched over 50 men from local war memorials and written their life stories that includes information from censuses, local newspapers (not digitised), family accounts, CWGC, war diaries, photos, etc. etc. I have paid once to look up info on ancestry, as have others on Find my past etc, and don't want to pay again. I have more than 50 'stories', text and images, which is what I thought this website was about. I am in the process of publishing my research on a blog and will probably give up on this and stick to my blog.
