Why don't service numbers match?
I am entering my grandfather's details - William Hill 3364 - but the record comes up as 241036. Maybe his number changed but this is the number on his medals. If there is an explanation for the differing number maybe a flag could say so.
Also struggling to add death details but this is my first look on.

The Territorial Force was renumbered in 1917 - the second number certainly looks like the type of number that was issued then (6 digits). It would be usual for Stars (ie 1914 Star aka Mons Star, or the 1914-15 Star) to show the number (and rank) with which someone first entered a theatre of war (in this case France on 25 June 1915, giving qualification for the 1914-15 Star), while the British War Medal and Victory Medal usually show the final number and highest rank. The medal index card does actually show both numbers as shown in the catalogue description http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/SearchUI/details/D2869688?uri=D2869688
