Medal card regiment information entered incorrectly
https://beta.livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/4933953 This record is for Private William Young VC of the East Lancashire Regiment, regiment number 5938. The medal index card photograph clearly shows East Lancs Regiment not the East Kent Regiment. Can this error be corrected on the source record.

I have the same problem with my grandfather's entry. It said that he served for Canadian army when the medal doc says British Army Ordinance. I tried to fix it using the way you said and it created a duplicate entry. I emailed yesterday and they told me to edit then delete but that box wouldn't let me do anything. I emailed back but have not heard a reply. Today, when I look at his page (Staff Sergeant John Whateley) no evidence or info shows and it will not allow me to enter any evidence, documents or anything. I then tried working on his brother's and all info that was there is also not showing and I cannot work on them either.
This is a transcription error, thanks for pointing it out, but you have better eyesight than me when you say it "clearly" shows Lancs! I had to blow the record up quite big to see it more clearly. Once I checked a second source however I was certain.
In cases like this, you can improve the facts added from that source yourself by:
- Clicking on the Medal Index card link
- Clicking on "Use this evidence for facts"
- Navigating on the right to "Unit and Rank"
- Then filling in the amended details, according the titles of the fields
Nothing is deleted by doing this, we just add in your amendments. A clear log is maintained that shows all amendments to all Life Stories so everyone can "check your workings" as it were.
Maintaining historical accuracy, and being able to believe the facts entered into Lives of the First World War is one the major challenges for the site, so thank you for highlighting these sorts of things
