Increase search options
It would be good to have a wider variety of search options, e.g. by place of birth or residence, rank, date of death, cemetery/memorial, and community (once up and running)
You can currently search by name, rank, service number, service type, corp/regiment or community.
We’ll revisit searching by date of birth, date of death, residence and cemetery in future.

I agree. As I have posted elsewhere on this site, I have a number of family members with names that occur frequently, sometimes with two or three men in the same regiment having the same name, so that it is impossible to decide which is David Griffiths or Edward James I am looking for. In most cases I know the date of birth and/or the place of residence before and after WWI: if this information were included in the search function, it would make things much easier. Alternatively, if it were possible to view the image of the medal card rather than the limited transcript, it would in many cases be possible to decide if the card refers to the person sought or to someone else with the same name.
Please add searching by place of birth or residence at enlisting
Being able to search by service number would be useful. I have my Grandfathers papers, service no 9004 Cheshire Regiment, but cannot find him on this site.

Being able to search by country of birth, i.e. Ireland , would be very useful.

It seems one has to be fairly accurate with search terms. A search for John George Lawrence or Gunner John George Lawrence finds my grandfather. A search for J G Lawrence does not. Perhaps you could add Soundex searches.
That would be a great idea

Yes, I agree. Searching by date or birth or death would be very useful indeed.
