  2. Contact other users

Will it be possible to contact other users, e.g. if someone else adds information to one of my relatives' records (I'm thinking similar to how you can connect with family tree owners on Ancestry)

  3. Link existing Findmypast subscriptions to Friends subscriptions

Since the additional datasets come from Findmypast, why charge people with Findmypast subscriptions to see them again through this site ? If you have a Findmypast login, you should be able to see the datasets here.

Hi all and thanks for your feedback.

Firstly, anyone with a 12 month Findmypast membership also receives 12 months access to Lives of the First World War; if you have yearly membership to Findmypast you should already have received an email about this (if not, you can contact their customer service team).

Secondly, even if you don’t have yearly membership to Findmypast, you can use your access to add information under ‘add an external reference’ – just paste the full URL from Findmypast for the record you’ve consulted (whether a census return, birth record, service record etc) and then you’ll be able to add facts from there.

  4. Increase search options

It would be good to have a wider variety of search options, e.g. by place of birth or residence, rank, date of death, cemetery/memorial, and community (once up and running)

  5. Commonwealth war graves commission

When CWGC is added as a contextural seed will fields such as date of death, theatre of war, memorial/cemetery, grave information, etc. be automatically populated?
If so, I would not like to use up time by manually feeding in all this data now.

  6. Subscribing to a particular man

The ability to 'subscribe' to a particular individual would be handy so that notifications could be set up to notify a user of any additional details which have been added to the person.

    Hi all,

We recently released a notifications feature that keeps you up to date with updates to your Remembered Life Stories.

Look for the bell icon in the main navigation. If it lights up, one of your Remembered Life Stories has been updated.

Simply Remember a Life Story to make sure you see any updates.

  7. Communities visibility

How soon before we can have an index of communities? If I wanted, say, to create a community for people from one specific area, how would I know that others hadn't already got one built?

  9. Ability To Make Contact With Owners Of Communities

The ability should be given to be able to make contact with the owners of 'Communities'.

I have noticed that there are now two communities set up for the same Royal Navy ships (HMS Defence and HMS Formidable - and this could extend to other efforts) and there is no way to make contact to coordinate efforts and avoid duplication.

The ability also to set a category for a 'Community' might help folk to determine whether a certain 'Community' exits before embarking on setting one up. For example the two mentioned ships should be in a category of 'Royal Navy…

  10. Group Life Stories together in Communities

Let members group together the Life Stories of individuals who shared an experience in some way – maybe they all worked in the same factory, or played on the same football team, or were from the same village.

  11. Editing personal knowledge after it has been entered

Where an item is added as 'personal knowledge' would it be possible for the person who added it to edit it? I added something and then decided to add more from the same source, but don't seem to be able to do so.

  12. Increase no of stories visible as " Discover Life Stories that are already being pieced together."

Clicking on life stories asnd going the page titled "Discover Life Stories that are already being pieced together." I only see six stories - and mainly the same ones - it would be nice to be able to see more than six if only to be able to browse through the work of others and see what information is being added and from what sources.

  13. When will Australian soliders be added?

I know this may not be the correct place for this question, but I will ask anyway.

When will Australian soldiers be added?

I have begun working on the life story of John Daniel Putman who enlisted in England, however he is Australian. His brother also fought but under the Australian's, I have also been researching a number of other Australian soldiers and would love to include their information/ details on this site.

  15. See who else is remembering a Life Story

It would be nice to see who else is 'remembering' an individual. I am remembering my Great Uncle William Worsfold and have added to the Life Story. I see that 2 people are now remembering him and it would be good to know who the other one is!!

  16. 'Who's address' needs to corrected to 'Whose address'

In the summary of added facts, 'Who's address' should be 'Whose address'. Possessive pronouns never take an apostrophe and 'who's' is a contraction of 'who is'.

  18. Feedback on numbers of Life Stories Remembered

It would be productive to show the progress of many of the 8 million Life Stories are being remembered. It is a massive task and users want to see that their and everyone else's work is being counted and valued. Gamification studies show that this would be most effective in real time, with a record of the remember clicks going up and up.

  19. Automatic searching the newly live Lives of First World War site

Family Tree Analzyer ( http://ftanalyzer.codeplex.com ) is a program that analyses your tree. A new feature allows you to view all the males of First World War fighting age in your tree. Simply shift double click to then automatically search newly live Lives of First World War site.

It really is very simple. From the website above click once to install and run the program. Then simply open a GEDCOM file of your tree and click on the War Dead report. Shift clicking on a any candidate male in the report will then automatically search Lives of the First World…

  20. service records

service records would be a great help in trying to differentiate between people with similar names where you know that they served but do not know either their regiment or soldier number
