  1. Problem with image attached to https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2019322

Stupidly I dragged and dropped a jpeg of the MM directly onto the profile image of the above soldier (Sjt Frederick E HURN) without clicking on the place holder first. The image is now in place but of course without any Title, Description, notes etc. I can't get delete the image in order to upload the image correctly - it also doesn't show under the Images tab. Pretty please, can some kind angel do this for me? Thanks...

      • WW1 letter from the front - faded

I have a very short letter from a relative about 1917 but it has faded too much. Is the a way I can recover the text (to make a copy)? Does IWM take donation of letters?

        • Cause of Death will be on the Death Certificate

I think it would be highly unusual for a Doctor to say that a death "was not War Related." Deaths could still be War Related many years after. An example would be my Grandfather who died in 1956, my father still links his death to exposure to gas during the First World War.
I am asking for the Not War Related option not to be used. If we are not medically qualified the safer option would be "Not known." Indeed that is the situation, we are still learning about the effects of the First World War and all the Wars…

          • Problem with Birth and Death entries for https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/3826

Both birth and death entries have been entered as facts (fully sourced) but the Profile banner won't show the full date of birth, only the year and the Timeline doesn't incorporate either. I have tried re-entering the data but to no avail. Please can someone lift the bonnet...

            • September 3rd !939

78th anniversary tomorrow. The memory of the Second World War is more recent than the first, survivors and relatives are still living - and memories of the second will trigger memories of the first.
Please can the above date be remembered? Thank you.

                • Major R F Legge - five entries

Major R F Legge to who's profile I have added a Story has I notice five entries relating to him at different stages in his career in some case duplicated. These would benefit from merging? The one I have added to is as follows. https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/5385300#timeline

What a round about way to get a life story record added when they dont appear in the searches. Looks like lots of military personnel etc will miss out like Charles Henry Hawthorne Regimental Number: 291

This man is there but incredibly difficult to find. I had to use his middle name boscawen as the more usual ways did not work. His cwgc record gives a different date of death.

                        • Newfoundlanders in WWI Service.

Will you be adding those who served in the Royal Newfoundland Naval Reserve? And the Royal Newfoundland Regiment? The RNNR were seconded to various parts of the Royal Navy. My grandfather served as a gunner on various Merchant Ships throughout the North Atlantic & the Mediterranean. Various relatives served with the RNR. The first battalion was largely slaughtered at Beaumont Hamel on July 1, 1916. Over 700 were dead or wounded; only 68 answered roll call the following morning. Other battalions went on to serve Britain during the remainder of the war. July 1st is still a Day of Mourning…

                                    • Why do individuals in my Communities keep defaulting back to previous photos?

…..it seems totally random and unexplained. The latest profile photo or image can just default, usually in batches, back to the previous displayed image ....or a even blank! There seems to be little point in updating as this has now happened twice in the last six months. Is there a solution being investigated or am I wasting my time updating ….again? Keep up the good work. Thanks.

                                      • Ongoing error

At what point is the error going to be repaired between FMP and Lives? I use the life events marriage facility a lot and I can add in the date and place and 9 times out of 10 it will give the same error. This has been happening for quite awhile and yet it never gets fixed. That tab is the difference between wading through 18 pages and wading through 1. Please get it fixed because it is a nuisance and should not be happening.

                                        • Use of photographs and images

I had an awful shock earlier when I posted a link to my Camberwell Community to Friends of Camberwell Cemeteries and a photograph came up in the email of Bromley War Memorial. This was my photograph but I did not associate it with my Camberwell Community. I do have photographs from Camberwell if an image is required. Please advise - in addition my son has adviised me that I should never post a link to our internet provider service as you once asked me to do, and I did so in good faith - I can find your email requesting…
