  2. Same person?

Are you sure that Private Daniel Lade https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/5245240 and Private Daniel Lade https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2291947#timeline are not the same person?

  3. No new subscriptions allowed

It's disappointing that no new subscriptions are allowed already despite a few weeks to run until the cut off date. This prevents members from creating new communities and doing valuable research via the premium records.

  5. A big thank you to all the IWM volunteers.

You have been helpful, professional and efficient. You should all be very proud of yourselves for creating something very special. There are a lot of negative comments here, and I do share the frustrations of those who can't track down someone when they should be there. But don't forget the original records were hand written and many have been destroyed, so don't blame the volunteers. They can only work with what they have got, and have spent many unpaid hours helping the rest of us.

  6. Addition of possibly erroneous CWGC information

The only matching CWGC details for #2009 Private John MacDonald record him as a Second Lieutenant with a DCM:
    https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/802518/macdonald,-john/

I have added information from the Medal Rolls and the Soldiers Effects register to his Life, with a note about contradictory information on the year of death which almost certainly was 1916:
    https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2777610

I can see no matching reference to John MacDonald in the Citations for the DCM:
    https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/ukdcmedal/?name=John_Macdonald&f-F0007CF4=Scottish+Rifles&name_x=i_psx

There are three Second Lieutenants "J MacDonald" on the Scottish Rifles BWM/VM rolls, but none of them indicate they died.

Should I add the CWGC and matching SDGW information with a…

  7. Richard Francis Lobley (Service No: 235322)

Richard died in 1917, and is buried at Tyne Cot. His Medal Index Card and Medal Roll confirm that he served with the 8th York and Lancaster (235322) and the Northumberland Fusiliers (6283). His grandson has inherited Richard's Memorial Plaque and his campaign medals. The campaign medals have a spelling error on the rim inscription, which has always be recognised. (Labley instead of Lobley), however the regiment inscribed on the rim is the Middx Regiment, Service Number: 14455, but there's no record of him serving with this Regiment. Do you think there was a mix up in the production of…

  8. Lives Continue to be Remembered

Would it be possible to create some supplementary IWM site once the transfer takes place to allow the site to be dynamic rather than static?! Great work has been done to remember over the last 4 plus years but what about future research that adds to those stories? I have spent 4 years researching a particular incident and it is possible that more may be discovered in time. Should that not be made available too?

  9. Routine request ............ can anyone advise please

I've got a MIC and SDGW Record for Private Richard Holt Taylor
Date of Birth: 1895 – Date of Death: 1/07/1916
British Army, East Lancashire Regiment, Service #22027 …..however I'm totally stumped in finding a CWGC Record to match it and have been going round in circles for hours. Where do SDGW get their info? Any clues? Regards and thanks

  10. In Honour of Aubrey Neville Hutchinson No 3199

    Dear Sir

There is a website specifically to honour a young man, A N Hutchinson No 3199 of 2 South African Infantry , B Company. The site contains many photographs most taken on the exact centenary of his death on 15 July 1916.
In addition there is a listing of all 225 men of his company as well as a table of what happened to the men of B Coy who survived WW1.
    Regards
    D. Price.

  16. Duplicate?

Any possibility of checking whether despite a different service number https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2291967 is a duplicate of https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2291966 especially with same Corps and name?

  17. Francis William Wicks

I am trying to trace this man under the number 20306 or 13378 to add him to the All Saints Wellington Shropshire Lychgate Community. His biography on Shropshire Archives is at https://www.shropshirearchives.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/wellington-remembers_Wicks-Francis-William.pdf

  18. https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2021104#timeline Team please amend the birth on timeline to accept the birth certificate.

I know you are very busy but I have tried several times to reload 50877 Charles Martin Hurst's birth certificate as proof of birth on his timeline. The details add to the Facts section and to his page heading but the birth timeline does not accept it as proof. https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/lifestory/2021104#timeline

  19. 'Missing' CWGC casualties - How are their missing LS to be identified & added in the future - for the future???

Despite the valiant efforts by many to identify & create new LS for the 'missing' there are still many casualties buried / commemorated in the UK by the CWGC who do not have a LS because they did not have the necessary 'seed' source for original LS creation - most typically for Army Home Service alone/No MIC situations, but there are others. How are those 'missing' casualties to be identified & commemorated by LOTFWW in the future? What plans/mechanism to identify & add their LS? If not achieved then a truly massive short-coming of LOTFWW. Please assure all relatives &…
