Sergeant LONG (Walter Joseph Long - 13167)

Sgt Walter Joseph Long (fondly known to his family as Joe), was born in 1890 at Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire. He was the third born of Joseph and Mary Amelia Long's five children. Joe moved to Tonypandy, South Wales and it was from there, he enlisted into the Gloucestershire Regiment's 10th (Service) Battalion during World War 1.

Joe was sadly Killed in Action on 25th September 1915. He was posthumously awarded the British War and Victory Medals. He is remembered on Loos Memorial, Loos-en-Gohelle, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.

    Hi Lisa,

    This forum is just a means to an end, and it will be destroyed. What will continue, as a Permanent Digital Memorial is the database.

    I see you have already found his entry on the database and have added some details.
